Want a modern, free alternative to digging through Settings, Control Panel and Task Manager? Wintoys, a Microsoft Store app by Bogdan Pătrăucean, gathers hardware info, app and service management, cleanup, repair tools and dozens of Windows tweaks in one Windows 11-style window.
The dashboard shows hardware activity
The overview lists your motherboard, CPU, graphics card and free RAM. Live usage figures appear alongside counts of installed apps, services, and running processes, giving you a starting point for tracking what is active.
The dashboard is also a way into the app’s other controls. Instead of hunting through separate Windows screens, you can move from the system overview to installed software, services, or performance options.
Apps and Services list software to manage
The Apps area lists installed programs and provides an option to uninstall ones you no longer need. Wintoys also offers an internet search for information about an app’s purpose, which can help identify unfamiliar entries before you decide what to do with them.
Services has a similar inspect-and-manage workflow: look through running services, search online to learn their function, and stop items that are consuming resources. The service’s role is worth understanding before stopping it, since Windows relies on services for system and app functions.
Boost combines performance and cleanup controls
In Boost, you can switch on maximum performance mode and reserve space in virtual memory. The section also lets you choose which apps start with Windows. For apps that support it, Wintoys can save an app’s state so it resumes after a restart.
Cleanup frees space taken by temporary and old Windows Update files. A Health section runs Windows' own repair tools such as SFC and DISM with one click, and the Tweaks page switches off telemetry, ads and other Windows behaviors you may not want.
