Screen control and connections
The mirrored view supports direct interaction: mouse clicks and keyboard input control the Android device. The computer can also send and receive copied text through bidirectional copy-and-paste. USB is one connection option; TCP/IP supports network connections, including wireless use.
For a standard connection, enable USB debugging on the Android device. scrcpy does not require root access or a permanently installed Android app. OTG mode is a separate way to control the device with a physical keyboard and mouse, and does not require USB debugging.
Recording and display options
Recording captures the device’s screen to a file. Command-line options can set video encoding, maximum image size, frame rate, and audio behavior; for example, a recording can use H.265 and be saved as MP4. Audio forwarding is available on Android 11 and newer.
A virtual display can run separately from the device’s usual screen, and scrcpy can start an app on that display. Other options include keeping the device display active and mirroring with its screen off. The device camera can also be captured.
How can command-line options tune the session?
scrcpy’s command-line controls cover connection behavior, video, audio, recording, input, and window settings. For example, reducing the maximum image size can lower the amount of video data being handled, while a frame-rate limit can constrain capture. Keyboard and mouse behavior can also be configured to simulate physical input.
