The scan looks for unwanted browser toolbars, add-ons, plugins, search providers, and hijacked home pages, along with potentially unwanted programs and suspicious system changes. Supported browsers include Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Chromium- and Firefox-based browsers such as Brave, Opera, Tor Browser, and Waterfox are also supported, with support varying by browser.
By default, a scan covers all user accounts on the computer. You can limit it to the current user, though the SYSTEM account remains included. Results are grouped by areas such as Programs and individual browsers.
Review findings before cleanup
Ultra Adware Killer marks many detected items for removal automatically, while some browser reset and malware-related fixes may need to be selected. Checkboxes let you choose which findings to remove or fix. Double-clicking a result opens its registry location; a context-menu option can open the file location when one is available.
The Cleanup action removes the selected programs and treats every other finding in the way that suits its kind. For example, it can repair hijacked browser shortcuts. A setting can create a Windows restore point before cleanup. Files that cannot be removed immediately may be queued for removal at the next reboot.
Run custom scans and manage the whitelist
Custom Scan lets you select a file or folder by entering its path, browsing to it, or dragging it into the dialog. For folders, an option controls whether subfolders are included. Findings appear in the Malware tab and can be handled through the regular cleanup process.
Whitelist items from scan results to keep them from appearing in later scans. The Whitelist manager supports removing entries and importing or exporting the list as an INI file. Scan and removal logs are available from the Menu, with earlier logs accessible in the logs folder.
