Dynamic modes change the taskbar’s appearance when a window is visible or maximized, or when Start, Search, or Task View is open. TranslucentTB also offers fixed styles and color controls, so the taskbar can match the state of the desktop.

Choose a taskbar style

The tray-menu settings let you choose how the taskbar looks in its normal state. Normal keeps the regular Windows appearance; Opaque applies a tint without transparency, while Clear uses a tinted transparent look. Blur adds a softened effect, and Acrylic gives the taskbar a Fluent Design-style appearance.

An alpha-enabled color picker adjusts the taskbar tint, with a live preview to show the effect as you change it. The Normal state does not have a customizable color. Other states can have their own color settings.

Set styles for desktop activity

Dynamic modes apply a separate taskbar appearance and color when particular interface conditions are active. The modes can be combined, so the taskbar can respond to more than one kind of activity.

  • Visible window changes the taskbar when a window is open on the desktop.
  • Maximized window applies its setting when a window is maximized.
  • Start opened, Search opened, and Task View opened respond to those interface panels.

Keep TranslucentTB available

The TranslucentTB tray icon’s context menu includes an “Open at boot” entry for launching the utility when Windows starts. On Windows 10, dynamic modes can also control whether the Aero Peek button appears. On Windows 11, they can control the taskbar line’s visibility.

TranslucentTB is focused on taskbar appearance; its settings affect visual states and elements such as transparency, tint, and blur. The separate options for Start, Search, and Task View let the taskbar’s presentation change as those parts of the Windows interface open.

Pros

  • Choose Normal, Opaque, Clear, Blur, or Acrylic taskbar styles
  • Set taskbar color with an alpha-enabled picker and live preview
  • Assign distinct styles and colors to several desktop states
  • Toggle the Aero Peek button or taskbar line by dynamic mode
