One mouse and keyboard can control several computers, with the pointer moving from one computer’s display to another. ShareMouse sends the input between connected computers over the local network and also shares clipboard contents and files.
Pointer control across computers
ShareMouse works like a software KVM for mouse and keyboard input. When the pointer reaches the edge of one computer’s display, it can move onto another connected computer’s monitor. Mouse movements, clicks, and keyboard input then go to the computer where the pointer is active, so a separate hardware switch or button press is not needed to change systems.
How do clipboard sharing and file transfers work?
Copy formatted text or files on one computer, then paste them on another with a keyboard shortcut. For moving files between computers, ShareMouse also supports dragging and dropping them across displays. This transfer workflow does not require setting up file shares or cross-platform network protocols.
Network and synchronized actions
Connected computers communicate through the local LAN. Network traffic can be protected with a password and AES encryption. ShareMouse also offers synchronized actions for certain Windows tasks:
- Lock or unlock multiple computers together
- Synchronize screen savers
- Log in remotely to a Windows PC after a cold start
Pros
- Switch computers by moving the pointer across displays
- Share formatted text and files through the clipboard
- Drag and drop files between computers
- Option for password protection and AES encryption
Cons
- Does not share the computers’ displays
System requirements: Windows 10, Windows 11 · At least two computers · Each computer must have its own monitor · All computers must be connected to the local network
