Windows and Macintosh icons
Create icons for Windows or Macintosh, then export them in the format needed for the target system. Windows icon files can reach 1024 × 1024 pixels and use PNG compression. IcoFX also converts icons between Macintosh and Windows formats, and supports both still and animated cursors.
The editor covers several common icon jobs, including desktop or application graphics and website favicons. Transparency is supported.
Image editor and layered objects
IcoFX includes painting and image-editing tools for shaping an icon directly. Brush settings include size, shape, hardness, and blending mode; layers can be rearranged, blended, and adjusted for opacity. Pre-made image objects can also be combined in layered artwork.
For source artwork, import SVG, BMP, PNG, JPG, JPG2000, TIF, or GIF files and convert them into icons or cursors. The editor also offers more than 40 effects for changing an image's appearance.
Resource extraction and portable use
IcoFX can pull icons from other files, including executable resources, and convert icons back into image files. Its resource editor also creates and edits icon and cursor libraries, or changes the icons stored inside EXE files.
The PortableApps package can run from a USB drive, cloud drive, or hard drive. It includes the full IcoFX editor and can be launched without a standard installation. File associations are configurable through the portable package's settings.
