When a PC freezes during a demanding task, a controlled load can show whether the system stays stable under pressure. HeavyLoad from JAM Software stresses selected hardware components so you can test them individually or together.
CPU, memory, and GPU loads
HeavyLoad offers separate workloads for the processor, RAM, and graphics hardware. The CPU test runs calculations to keep the processor busy, while the memory workload allocates RAM. A graphics workload draws 3D scenes to put pressure on the GPU.
Choose one component to focus on, or combine workloads to exercise several parts of the system at once. This lets you check whether a machine remains responsive during a sustained load, including after hardware changes or when investigating intermittent instability.
Disk stress test
Disk workloads add storage activity to a test. HeavyLoad can write a test file to a drive, giving you a way to include disk operations alongside CPU, memory, or graphics stress. Running these tests together can expose problems that appear only when multiple components are busy.
Combining and stopping workloads
Select the stress options you want before starting a run, then stop the test when you have finished checking the system. A focused CPU or memory run narrows the workload; enabling several options creates a broader load scenario.
A crash or freeze during a run signals that the system did not handle that particular load reliably, but the result alone does not pinpoint its cause.
Pros
- Separate stress tests for CPU, memory, disks, and GPU
- Run selected workloads individually or concurrently
- GPU test uses 3D graphics
Cons
- A failed test does not identify the faulty component by itself
System requirements: 32-bit and 64-bit
What does HeavyLoad test?
It applies stress workloads to the CPU, RAM, GPU, and disk.
Can HeavyLoad stress more than one component at a time?
Yes. Select multiple workloads to put several components under load together.
How does HeavyLoad stress the graphics card?
Its GPU workload draws 3D graphics to place load on the graphics hardware.
