Swapped a graphics card or printer and want the old drivers gone? Driver Fusion manages Windows drivers: it updates, backs up, fixes and removes them. Its driver cleaner also targets leftover entries after hardware or drivers are removed.
Driver updates and backups
Driver Fusion provides tools to update and back up drivers, as well as fix driver and device issues.
A driver backup gives you a copy to turn to if a change causes trouble. The program also supports updating drivers, so its work covers both maintaining existing devices and addressing driver problems.
Driver removal and cleanup
When hardware is replaced or disconnected, driver entries may remain in Windows. Driver Fusion’s cleaner can remove driver remnants, including entries associated with devices that are no longer in use. Cleaning these entries is especially relevant when an old driver interferes with a replacement.
- Some entries can be removed only when Windows starts.
- Other cleanup actions require the Premium edition.
Normal and portable operation
Driver Fusion can perform its operations without starting Windows in Safe Mode. The application also supports a portable-style setup: copying its installation folder can carry the program to another location. By default, it writes files to the user’s AppData folder; launching it with the -p argument directs those files to the executable’s folder.
Pros
- Updates, backs up, and fixes drivers and devices
- Removes driver entries and cleans up leftovers
- Driver operations do not require Safe Mode
