Stinger is designed to detect and remove specific malware threats. Run it when you want a focused check or need another tool to try cleaning an infected PC. Its targets include viruses, worms, and known variants.
The detection list includes threats such as Conficker, Mydoom, Netsky, and Sasser. Stinger is intended for threats it recognizes; a scan result does not establish that a PC is free of every kind of malware.
Set process and boot-sector checks
Open the preferences panel to control whether Stinger analyzes running processes and boot sectors. These options let you include or disable those areas as part of the scan.
