Switch between services and drivers
Choose the services or drivers view to inspect the corresponding entries on the computer. Each list uses columns for details such as name, display name, status, startup type, and file path. Additional file information can include its description, product name, company, and version.
Sort the columns to bring related entries together, or use the find dialog to locate a particular name. ServiWin marks running and disabled entries with different colors; automatically or boot-starting items that are not running have a separate color.
Change an entry’s status or startup type
Select one or more entries to start, stop, restart, pause, or continue them. The startup-type choices include Automatic, Manual, Disabled, Boot, and System. These controls are available for services and drivers, while the options shown depend on the selected item.
A service’s status describes whether it is running now; its startup type controls how Windows handles it at startup. ServiWin exposes both, so a stopped service can be inspected separately from the setting that determines whether it starts automatically. Changing these settings requires care: stopping or disabling the wrong component can affect Windows or hardware that depends on it.
Save lists or inspect another Windows installation
Export the current service or driver list to text, tab-delimited, comma-delimited, XML, or HTML. HTML reports open in the default browser, and copying list details to the clipboard lets you paste them into a spreadsheet. Command-line options can save a chosen list, sort it by a column, or load a selected set of services.
ServiWin can also retrieve service and driver information from another computer on a local network when the connection has administrator access. Offline mode reads another Windows installation from its Windows directory; it can change that installation’s startup-type settings, but cannot start or stop its services while that system is offline.
