Epic Browser for Windows

When ad trackers follow browsing activity across sites, Epic Browser offers built-in controls to block them. The Chromium-based browser also includes an encrypted proxy and a new-tab view of tracking companies.

Built-in tracking protection

Epic includes an ad blocker based on uBlock, along with protections against third-party cookie tracking and fingerprinting techniques. Hidden cryptominers and ultrasound signals, another way to follow people across devices, are blocked too.

The new-tab page includes a tracker view that shows companies and organizations detected while using other browsers.

Encrypted proxy and private browsing

An encrypted proxy is built into the browser and can be enabled from its toolbar. A country selector is available for choosing the proxy location. Private browsing can be switched on permanently if you prefer, and browsing history can be set to clear when the browser closes.

Chromium extensions and themes

Epic uses Chromium as its browser foundation, stripped of the parts that send usage data to Google. Chrome Web Store extensions and themes can be added to customize the browser; the developer says almost all of those extensions work in Epic.

• Use the tracker protections and ad blocker while browsing.
• Turn on the encrypted proxy from the toolbar when needed.
• Add compatible Chrome extensions or themes to adjust the browser.
